KEN CHAMPIONS CURIOSITY TO HELP OTHERS DISCOVER THEIR PURPOSE

Ken D Brandon II is a passionate speaker and thought leader dedicated to inspiring purpose-driven futures. Despite earning bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and chemical engineering and beginning an MD/PhD program in 2018, Ken only discovered true fulfillment after a near-death health scare forced him to take a year-long medical leave from his studies. This pivotal experience revealed that his career path was misaligned with his true self, and no amount of progress could soothe the lack of fulfillment he felt. Driven by curiosity, Ken began to wonder if this realization was unique or part of a shared reality.

He learned that only 27% of college graduates work in jobs directly related to their major, and nearly 40% of college students are adults returning to school, often wishing they had chosen a different path the first time around. Despite being equipped to tackle the world’s most complex problems, many educated individuals struggle to uncover their true passions and identity. This struggle, however, does not begin in college or the workplace—it often stems from the way we were guided during our formative years, which may have been shaped by incomplete perspectives, external expectations, or limited tools for self-discovery. Recognizing this gap, Ken developed his Majoring in You framework to address these challenges.

Through his Majoring in You framework, Ken empowers schools and students to connect education with individuality, ensuring every student graduates with clarity and direction. This same framework helped Ken uncover the true motivations behind his passion for science and medicine, enabling him to pivot from medical school to fully embracing his path as a scientific researcher and engineer. He firmly believes that if this framework could provide him with clarity and purpose after years of unfulfillment, it can do the same for any student—whether they’re in middle school, high school, or college—helping them build a foundation for a fulfilling and purpose-driven future.

When he’s not working, Ken enjoys spending time with his wife (his college sweetheart), as well as with family and friends. He also prioritizes time for himself to read, journal, and refine his craft—reflecting his belief that “the most important major you’ll ever choose is YOU.”
